Rules

• The house is a non smoking place. You're welcome to smoke outside but please don't throw the cigarettes ends in nature. 

• The hot pot is a non smoking place.

• Only the number of people confirmed are allowed to stay in the house.

• The cleaning does not include cleaning up a major mess

• Don't leave the trash outside ( unless you decide to adopt mice but in this case, you will have to take them with you because we don't want them 😁)

• The house is connected to a septic tank. For this reason, we ask you not to throw anything in the toilet other than toilet paper

FAQ

"Call a plumber, the water doesn't smell good"

Hot water in Iceland comes directly from the ground, it has a typical smell of sulfur and can get very hot.

The smelt is completely normal and it's almost like this everywhere in Iceland

Cold water is the purest to drink. No need to buy bottles of water in Iceland.

"We are 3 and the house is prepared only for 2 guests"

In Iceland, we share many things but we don't share the duvets. So everyone has his own individual duvet ( except in the bubble where you'll find a double duvet )

If you have booked for 3 guests, you have 3 sets. Each set contains 2 pillows, 1 individual duvet ( except in the bubble), a bathrobe, a large towel and a small towel.

So when you see 2 individual duvets in the same bed, you just have to take it and choose the room in which you want to sleep (all beds have fitted sheets)

" The house is too cold", "it's too warm, you should install air conditioning "

First of all, please do not change anything in the Danfoss thermostats on the walls.

1. The house is too cold

Use the eletrical heaters

Putting 25 degrees on the thermostat on the wall won't make the heater run hotter

2. The house is too warm

If the house is too warm ( when there is a good weather with the sun on the windows … no panic, it’s never for a long time in Iceland ), you can use the "icelandic Air Conditioning" by opening the windows. 

Putting 17 degrees on the thermostat on the wall won't cool the house: if the temperature inside is above 20 degrees, the heating has already stopped and there isn't Air Conditioning 

" The BBQ doesn't work"

First, open the gas cylinder and turn on the buttons on the grill. 

The starter doesn't work ( sorry about that), please use the lighter found in the the kitchen's drawer. 

Once you are done using it, use the brush to remove any residue. 

Turn off the bottle

If the bottle is empty, send me a message, I'll give you the process to access at the storage room

" I cannot access the TV channels of my country"

You have access to an android TV box on HDMI3

You can use for free Netflix ( Profile: holtsgata guests. Please don’t use the others profiles)

You can cast everything from your own device, computer or tablet with the Google Chromecast fonction ( Name: MIBOX4 )

Sorry, I don't have international offer to watch TV from different country but you can learn Icelandic with RUV

"I can't close the door, come immediately to fix it"

To close the doors with the keys, you have to lift the handle before

Garbage

Don't leave garbage outside if you don't like mice and foxes

There is no garbage collection in this area of Iceland.

To get there: take the road 35 to Reykholt, pass in front of the N1, go straight ahead at the roundabout. The recycling center is located at the next roundabout, to the left. It is accessible 24/24 by the small gate who’s always open.
